Blueprint
Blueprint is where you define what your site is for. Everything the AI generates later, from page structure to copy and colours, is grounded in what you set here.
Blueprint has two parts: your strategic drivers on the left and your living specifications in the centre. The chat sits on the right.
Getting started: Blueprint genesis
A new project opens on a short guide with three steps:
- Discover: chat with the AI to uncover your audience, pain point and value proposition.
- Synthesize: confirmed answers are written into your living specifications automatically.
- Design: build and preview pages in Design, grounded in those specifications.
Below the steps are three Starter archetypes. Selecting one starts a guided conversation for that kind of site:
| Archetype | For |
|---|---|
| B2B Developer Tool with BYOK AI | A technical product for engineering teams who bring their own AI provider keys |
| SaaS Landing Page & Pricing | A conversion-focused site for a subscription product with tiered pricing |
| Design Studio Portfolio | A creative showcase of a studio's work, process and client roster |
You can also just describe your own product in the chat, or select Skip to Manual Draft to fill in the drivers yourself. Reopen the archetypes any time with the Starter archetypes button above the specifications.
Strategic drivers
The left deck holds your site brief.
Public creative brief
The anchors every page is built on. The badge shows how many of the five core anchors are defined, for example 3/5.
| Field | What it captures |
|---|---|
| Site & brand name | The name used across the site |
| Tagline | A short line that sums up the product |
| Conversion goal | What a visitor should do: Waitlist signup, Book a demo, Self-serve signup, Checkout, Documentation / CLI install, Contact sales, or Newsletter signup |
| Tone of voice | Technical & direct, Warm & editorial, Minimal & lux, Bold & playful, or Corporate & authoritative |
| Target audience | Who the site is for |
| Primary pain point | The problem that brings them to you |
| Value proposition | Why your product solves it better |
Key differentiators
A list of what sets the product apart. Select Add differentiator to add one; removing one can be undone straight away.
Internal steering guidelines
Rules the AI follows that never appear on the site, grouped by category: Operating philosophy, Business constraint, Anti-pattern, Portfolio context and Privacy & security. Select Add guideline in a category to add one.
When the brief is complete
The brief is complete when the five core anchors (site name, target audience, primary pain point, value proposition and conversion goal) are filled in and confirmed with the AI in the chat, and no guideline the AI proposed is still waiting for your decision.
Until then, the AI can talk with you, fill in the brief and write your specifications, but it will not build new pages. This keeps your site from being generated on generic placeholders.
Living specifications
The centre stage shows two Markdown documents. Switch between them with the tabs at the top:
- Product Requirements (PRD): what the product is, who it is for and what the site must achieve.
- Technical Design (TDD): how the site is built.
They are saved in your project's docs folder as PRD.md and TDD.md, so
you can open them in any editor or hand them to a team.
Editing a section
Select a section's edit icon to change its Markdown in place. Select
Done (or press Ctrl+Enter / ⌘Enter) to keep your change, or
Cancel (Esc) to discard it.
You can also ask the AI to rewrite a section, or the whole document.
Reviewing AI updates
When the AI updates sections, Qanvas highlights them:
- Revert on a highlighted section restores what it said before the AI's change.
- Mark N as seen accepts the changes in the open document and clears the highlights.
- N updated in PRD (or TDD) jumps to the other document when it has new changes.
When the brief changes
If you change the brief after editing a document yourself, Qanvas shows Brief changed since the documents were edited. Select Update with AI to bring the documents in line with the brief, or Dismiss to keep them as they are.
Moving on to Design
Once your brief is complete, switch to Design and ask the AI to build the site, or open a page and select Generate Page with AI.
